Instructions on Forcing a Dump on a S85/7017 After a System Hang





Operator Panel and Power Control The above diagram shows the locations of the operator panel display and the operator panel.

To force a dump from the Operator Panel on the S85, use the following procedure.


  1. Using the Scroll Up or Down Button, Select function 22 onthe operator panel and press Enter. The response A1003022 displays on the operator panel.

  2. Using the Scroll Up or Down Button, Select function 22 again and press Enter. The response D1823080 displays on the operator panel. This indicated the dump request has been accepted by AIX, and the process continues, displaying 4-character progress messages.

  3. When the dump is complete the system automatically powers off. At this point you will need to Push the Power Pushbutton to start the system. Note: the system administrator may be able to start the system from the remote console at this point. Contact the System Administrator to ascertain whether pushing the power button is necessary.
